Italian media on Real Betis fans: “They used columns as urinals.”

The Italian media criticised Real Betis fans for the way they acted in the centre of the Italian capital, report AS.

Last night Real Betis defeated AS Roma 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico in the third round of the Europa League group stages, thanks to goals from Guido Rodríguez and Luiz Henrique.

However, the Italian media were not impressed by the way Real Betis supporters behaved during their visit to Rome. Local newspaper ‘Il Fatto Quotidiano’ described the Piazza del Popolo being littered with “garbage everywhere” and claimed that people “used the columns as urinals.” These acts were caught on camera by citizens and tourists alike.

“The passage of the vandals required the immediate intervention of the urban cleaning agency,” reported the Italian media outlet.

Video footage emerged that showed local cleaning staff collecting the rubbish left by Real Betis fans on the streets of Rome following their team’s victory.
