Isco to join Union Berlin on free transfer

Isco will join Bundesliga side Union Berlin in the next few hours, according to journalist Miguel Ángel Díaz on Cope.

The Spanish playmaker is close to reaching an agreement with the German club for the remainder of the season, with the option for a second season.

Union Berlin, second in the Bundesliga and one point behind leaders Bayern Munich, have been negotiating with the player for days and the deal is close to being finalised.

After just four months at his last club Sevilla, the 30-year-old could now have a new team for the rest of the 2022-23 campaign.

The former Real Madrid player was offered to clubs in Italy and had offers from the United States and Saudi Arabia.

He was also linked with Juventus and RB Leipzig, where he could have been a possible replacement for Spanish forward Dani Olmo, who is out with an injury.

There was even talk of the possibility of the player from Arroyo de la Miel returning to Málaga CF, something that would have been made very difficult due to the financial situation of the Segunda club.
