Isco: “I’m not a leader, I believe that in a team we all have to do our bit.”

Isco was not included in Luis Enrique’s Spain squad that faced Switzerland and Portugal in the Nations League.

In an interview with Sevillan paper Mucho Deporte, he revealed that he wants to get back into the national team:

“The qualification to the Final Four is fantastic. I am very happy. There is a magnificent team. I hope I can be there, but I’m not obsessed with the idea either. I want to do my job well. I want to show myself, my family and the Sevilla fans that I am ready, committed and eager to help my club.”

While he hopes to leaves his mark at the Sevilla, he doesn’t see himself as a leader:

“I am not a leader. I believe that in a team we all have to do our bit. In the end we win or lose together. It’s clear that I want to be important, that I want to help everyone, that I want to win as many points as possible.”

Isco believes that their game against Atlético Madrid on the weekend will be crucial in reaching their goal of finishing in the Champions League places:

“There are 32 league games left, a long way to go. I think that in the last few games we have noticed a clear improvement. On Saturday we have an important opportunity against one of the teams that will be there. We always have to fight.”
