Inter Milan dealt last-minute injury blow before facing Barcelona

Italian heavyweights Inter Milan will be forced to make do without the contributions of Benjamin Pavard in their upcoming showdown with Barcelona.

This comes after the France international’s efforts to secure the medical green light to play his part on Tuesday came up short.

Defender Pavard was for his part forced to sit out last week, as Inter made the trip to Catalunya’s capital for the first leg of a Champions League semi-final tie with Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.

This came owing to an ankle injury suffered just days prior.

Recent days had seen claims mount in the media that Pavard was closing on an imminent return to fitness, set to be available for selection to face Barca as a result.

Despite Simone Inzaghi’s hints at the same during his pre-match press conference, however, this will in fact not be the case.

Whilst training alongside the rest of Inter’s squad on Monday evening, Pavard pulled up once more, still ‘feeling pain in his ankle’ according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The former Bayern Munich man, as a result, will not be at the disposal of boss Inzaghi at San Siro later tonight.
