Inter Milan afforded timely injury boost before Atlético showdown

The hopes of La Liga giants Atlético Madrid of getting the better of Inter Milan next week have today been dealt something of a blow.

This comes amid confirmation that a headline member of the latter’s squad on Thursday marked his return to training.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, Hakan Çalhanoğlu linked back up with the rest of Simone Inzaghi’s squad this morning.

Midfielder Çalhanoğlu, for his part, was forced to sit out each of Inter’s last three fixtures, owing to an adductor strain.

After stepping up his recovery efforts over the last couple of days, though, on Thursday, he was given the green light to return to the grass, alongside the rest of the Nerazzurri’s stars.

The Turk is therefore expected to take his place in Inter’s matchday squad to take on Bologna on Saturday evening.

And Çalhanoğlu will make use of the fixture to inch back towards full fitness in time to return to starting duties at the Wanda Metropolitano next Wednesday night.
