Injured Real Madrid pair set to travel with squad for Bayern Munich clash

Two long-term injury absentees are set to be part of the travelling squad for La Liga giants Real Madrid’s upcoming showdown with Bayern Munich.

That’s according to Radio Marca, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the plans of the coaching staff in Spain’s capital.

Real, of course, will turn attentions back towards matters on the continent this coming Tuesday.

After battling their way beyond reigning holders Manchester City, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops are set to face off with German heavyweights Bayern Munich, in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The tie’s first leg will play out in three days’ time, at the Allianz Arena.

And, as alluded to above, joining the travelling party in their journey to Bavaria will be two sidelined members of Los Blancos’ ranks.

The players in question? David Alaba, and Thibaut Courtois.

Defender Alaba of course remains in the thick of his recovery from an ACL tear suffered back in December.

Shot-stopper Courtois, meanwhile, is inching towards a return to the pitch, following a setback in his own ACL comeback efforts last month.

Despite Carlo Ancelotti’s suggestion that Courtois could be in line for a shock return for the clash, the Belgian is highly unlikely to feature against Bayern, with he and Alaba instead simply eager to support their teammates as best they can at the Allianz Arena.
