Soon-to-be Real Madrid star Franco Mastantuono came within mere hours of committing his future to another club this summer.
That’s according to Blancos insider Jorge C Picon, who highlights Paris Saint-Germain as the outfit in question.
Youngster Mastantuono is of course all set to link up with Real Madrid over the days ahead.
After Florentino Pérez and co. agreed to meet the demands of their counterparts at River Plate, the 17-year-old was given the green light to complete a dream move to Spain’s capital.
Mastantuono is primed to put pen to paper on a six-year contract with Xabi Alonso’s side.
And yet, had things played out just a little differently, South American football’s next breakout talent could have been plying his trade with another of Europe’s leading clubs in 2025/26.
As revealed by the aforementioned Jorge C Picon:
‘Luis Enrique called Mastantuono, and PSG had him convinced. It was just a matter of hours before he signed with the French team. Until Real Madrid came along and completely changed the game. Franco’s priority was always Real Madrid.’
