Iker Casillas will not run for Spanish FA president role

Iker Casillas confirmed in February that he would run to become the president of the Spanish Football Federation at this year’s elections, but has since made the decision to remove himself from running for the top role.

The former Real Madrid goalkeeper confirmed on Monday that he has decided to not run for the presidency, owing to the current situation in Spain with COVID-19 and believing it is not the right time for a “fair, transparent and really participatory” process.
