“If it happened in women’s football” – Sevilla star Ocampos responds after Rayo fan’s poke

Sevilla star Lucas Ocampos has this evening provided his take on the ridiculous actions of an opposing fan during his side’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano.

Sevilla, of course, were back in action a short time ago, making the trip to the Estadio de Vallecas for a La Liga meeting with Rayo.

When all was said and done, the evening’s visitors emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, securing a crucial three points courtesy of Youssef En-Nesyri’s brace.

Post-match, however, it is not the eventual outcome in Madrid which has dominated the headlines.

Instead, as much has come in the form of an incident involving aforementioned Sevilla star Lucas Ocampos.

Whilst preparing to take a throw-in during the first-half, Ocampos was the subject of a bizarre gesture on the part of one of the hosts’ supporters, who stuck a finger into the buttocks of the Argentine.

Ocampos, for his part, was left understandably bemused by the situation, quickly turning to question the fan responsible.

Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the 29-year-old was asked for his version of events.

And Ocampos made use of the opportunity to call for action on the part of La Liga, urging the powers overseeing Spanish football to take the incident ‘seriously’:

“I hope that La Liga takes it seriously, as it takes racism,” he told DAZN, as cited by Relevo. “There is always a fool. If it happens in women’s football we know what can happen. Let them take action so that a fool does not stain the fans.”
