Former Espanyol president Joan Collet has admitted that he does not intend to watch the club’s upcoming showdown with arch rivals Barcelona.
This comes with the Spaniard having already faced up to the likely possibility of his ex-employers being put to the sword.
Rampant Barcelona are set to welcome Espanyol to Montjuïc this weekend, for the latest edition of the Derbi Barceloní.
The former will head into proceedings in the midst of nothing short of a remarkable stretch of form, which has seen Hansi Flick’s troops rattle off dominant victories over all of Sevilla, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid since the October international break.
Espanyol, on the other hand, have been condemned to defeat in five of their last six outings.
And one individual who does not envision this trend undergoing a shift this weekend comes in the form of the aforementioned Joan Collet.
Speaking during an interview with Llobregat Blanc-i-Blau, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, on Tuesday, ex-Parakeets chief Collet had the following to say when drawn on the upcoming derby:
“Unfortunately I see very few possibilities. What’s more, I don’t even think about watching the game: I’ll disappear from the map, I’ll turn off the phone and, when it’s over, I’ll see what’s happened. It’s not that I don’t have hope, it’s that they’ve even taken away my illusion.”
