Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has on Saturday moved to reveal his appreciation for the project put in place by Hansi Flick at Barcelona.
Despite a recent hiccup on the domestic front, Barcelona have of course enjoyed a solid debut season under Flick’s watch to date.
The Blaugrana currently sit top of the table in La Liga, as well as 2nd in the newly-formatted Champions League setup.
And one individual for whom such impressive efforts on Barca’s part have not gone at all unnoticed comes in the form of the aforementioned Diego Simeone.
Speaking in an interview with Telemundo Deportes, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, this weekend, Argentine tactician Simeone was asked for his take on Hansi Flick’s troops.
And Atlético’s headmaster made use of the opportunity to lavish praise on Barcelona, ahead of facing off with the Catalans in a week’s time:
“I really, really like Barcelona , because of the way they are playing. I don’t know if they will be able to maintain this pace, with a lot of high pressure, with a lot of space at the back to be able to defend, but they have young players, who Flick has signed at an ideal time.
“They have Lewandowski, who is having an incredible season so far. The football he shows is the kind you like to watch, it’s beautiful. Breaks, pressure, space to defend, one-on-one duels… They do it all very well.”
