Real Madrid star Federico Valverde has this afternoon provided his response to the news of teammate Vinícius Jr. being condemned to a spell on the sidelines.
The name of wide-man Vinícius has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital across the day to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that, en route to Real’s La Liga downing of Leganés, the Brazilian international picked up a muscular injury.
As per a statement across Los Blancos’ website and social media platforms on Monday:
‘Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Vini Jr., he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg.’
Vinícius is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks.
And one fellow member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad who could not hide his disappointment with such news is the aforementioned Fede Valverde.
On his way out of Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground on Monday, midfielder Valverde stopped for a brief exchange with fans and the media.
During as much, the Uruguayan was informed of Vinícius’ fitness setback, to which he responded:
“Vinícius’ injury? I didn’t know, I thought it was just a discomfort. What a pity…”
