How much will Karim Benzema earn at Saudi club Al Ittihad?

Karim Benzema’s move to Al Ittihad has been officially announced. The Saudi team officially confirmed their signing on their social media platforms, alongside the caption, ‘A new tiger will roar’.

Benzema held a goodbye press conference earlier on Tuesday, in which he was emotional, saying goodbye to Real Madrid. He spoke of his pride in playing for Real Madrid for 14 seasons and said that he wanted to retire at the club. The Frenchman also explained that the Saudi opportunity was something he had not expected, and after speaking with his family, he could not pass it up.

After winning the Ballon d’Or, the forward has not had his best season with Los Blancos. Injuries have played their part and at 35, he felt it was time for a new opportunity.

In the deal signed until 2026, AS report that Benzema will earn close to €300m over the three seasons. Real Madrid now face the almost impossible task of replacing him.
