Antoine Griezmann among Atlético Madrid’s all-time greats

Antoine Griezmann has been one of the best players in La Liga this season and has continued his fine form after the 2022 World Cup.

His enjoyable time in Spain began in the north, with Real Sociedad, where he started out at the age of 13 in the Txuri-urdin academy.

Griezmann then made the move to Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2014, where he triumphed under the orders of head coach Diego Simeone.

A brief two-year spell at FC Barcelona did not prevent Griezmann from returning to Los Colchoneros, where he has been instrumental in their impressive run in 2023.

Griezmann’s goals

The Frenchman scored a brace in Atlético’s 5-1 home win over Cádiz in La Liga on Wednesday night which saw the club move above rivals Real Madrid into second place.

Griezmann has scored a total of 155 goals and has also registered 72 assists in 336 competitive games for Atlético.

He is now the club’s fourth-highest goalscorer in La Liga history with 110 league goals.
