How long will Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois miss with new injury?

An insight into the injury recovery timeline facing Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has come to the fore on Tuesday evening.

This comes after the Belgian set alarm bells ringing across Spain’s capital once more a short time ago.

After reports began to surface in the media that Courtois had been spotted departing training in tears, an ensuing medical report on the part of Real confirmed that their no.1 has indeed suffered a serious setback in his efforts to return to the pitch.

Courtois, of course, has not featured in a competitive setting since all the way back in August, after picking up a torn ACL during a training session at Valdebebas.

Recent weeks, though, had given rise to positive signals stemming from Madrid, with the former Chelsea man’s return to first-team activities having even seen Carlo Ancelotti hint that Courtois could feature in the club’s first round of fixtures on the back of the international break.

It therefore came as a hammer blow for all associated with Los Blancos when, on Tuesday afternoon, word was forthcoming that the 32-year-old had been ‘diagnosed with a torn internal meniscus in his right knee’.

Amid fresh panic over another lengthy incoming spell on the sidelines for Courtois, though, how long is his latest injury actually likely to keep him out?

An insight into as much has this evening been forthcoming.

The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana points towards the shot-stopper being in line for a spell of ‘around six to seven weeks’ on the treatment table.

Though far from the worst-case scenario, such a timeline would of course throw Courtois’ participation in any of Real Madrid’s remaining fixtures this season up in the air:
