The mounting injury problems at La Liga giants Barcelona could culminate in a somewhat forgotten member of the club’s midfield ranks to play an increased role over the weeks ahead.

The subject of fitness woes has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes, first, after Barcelona summer signing Dani Olmo was condemned to a spell of four to five weeks on the sidelines, owing to a hamstring injury.
