An insight into the response of the home crowd in attendance at Barcelona’s meeting with Getafe to the presence of Ilaix Moriba at the club’s ground has been forthcoming online.
The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who point towards midfielder Moriba as having been afforded an altogether frosty reception.
The 21-year-old, for his part, was mere years ago widely regarded as one of the standout talents in the youth ranks of La Liga heavyweights Barca.
Since departing for RB Leipzig back in the summer of 2021, however, Moriba’s career has taken something of a nosedive.
The move was not taken to at all well by the Blaugrana faithful at the time, amid claims that the Guinean international’s motives had been largely financial.
And, evidently, such supporters have not yet forgiven, or forgotten.
Moriba was afforded a starting berth by loan club Getafe on Saturday, upon the Azulones making the trip to Montjuïc to face his former employers.
En route to an eventual 4-0 drubbing, the midfield starlet was hooked from proceedings by boss José Bordalás inside the closing 15 minutes of proceedings.
And as much gave rise to a swift and loud round of boos and whistles, making clear that Moriba’s recent confession of his lasting ‘love’ for Barcelona fell on altogether deaf ears.
