La Liga giants Barcelona have this week seen a recent piece of outgoing transfer business called into serious question.
This comes amid claims that the Blaugrana brass made a mistake in allowing Marc Guiu to depart the club.
Frontman Guiu, of course, sealed an exit from Catalunya’s capital this past summer, making the move to west London with big-spending Chelsea.
The Spaniard has since gone on to endure something of a hit-and-miss time of things in England, struggling for game-time in the Premier League, but shining on the continent.
Guiu was afforded his latest starting berth in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night, and went on to fully justify his inclusion.
As much came by way of a hat-trick, en route to a 5-1 drubbing of Irish outfit Shamrock Rovers.
Post-match, the frontman’s efforts were widely hailed, with one individual having also made use of the opportunity to take aim at Barcelona.
As part of his punditry role for TNT Sports, ex-Chelsea star Joe Cole assured that the Blaugrana ‘made a mistake’ in allowing Guiu to move on:
“This boy, in two years, could be a starting number nine. I think Barcelona made a mistake. My thought regarding Guiu is: how could Barcelona let him go? I compared him to Suárez and I received a lot of criticism for it.”
It should be noted that Barcelona did not exactly push Guiu out the exit door over the summer, with his Chelsea switch having come with the youngster actively seeking out a move to England.
