How Atlético Madrid have performed without João Félix

Atlético Madrid have not lost in La Liga since 8 January, the last match João Félix played for the club before joining Chelsea on loan.

Diego Simeone’s side have won nine games and drawn three in La Liga since the Portuguese forward left the Spanish capital.

Atlético have picked up 30 points from a possible 36 since losing João Félix to the Premier League club have gone from being 11 points behind Real Madrid in the league to being two points behind Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Atlético saw Matheus Cunha and João Félix leave in the winter transfer window and they signed Memphis Depay. The former Barcelona player has scored three goals in seven league games under Simeone. His performances have seen him take Álvaro Morata’s place in attack.

João Félix, for his part, has played ten Premier League games and scored two goals, against West Ham and Everton. He has played two Champions League games, both against Borussia Dortmund, and will likely start against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

The Portuguese said from the start that he was delighted with the way Chelsea played and reports suggest that he would like to stay in London. As per AS, Atlético would like to sell for him for a fee in the region of €100m.
