How Arne Slot’s Liverpool switch could affect Atlético Madrid

An insight into the potential knock-on effect of Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot taking up the reins at Premier League giants Liverpool for Atlético Madrid has today come to the fore online.

The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and points towards Atlético being in line for a possible blow on the transfer front.

The Rojiblancos, it is understood, are amongst a number of clubs from across the continent to have set their sights on Feyenoord frontman Santiago Giménez with a view to next season.

Mexican international Giménez, for his part, is in the midst of a stellar campaign, which has seen him rack up 24 goals and seven assists across all competitions.

On the lookout for reinforcements up top amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of both Memphis Depay and Ángel Correa, the 23-year-old, in turn, is understood to have been identified as a leading target at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Atléti’s hopes of striking a deal for Giménez, however, could well be thrown up in the air, courtesy of his manager’s summer plans.

Feyenoord headmaster Arne Slot, of course, is all set to take his talents to England, to link up with Liverpool with a view to the 2024/25 campaign.

And the tactician, it is claimed, is eager for Giménez to follow him to Anfield.

Should Slot make as much clear to the Liverpool brass, it is unlikely that Atlético would be able to compete, either from a financial or sporting standpoint.
