Highly-regarded Barcelona starlet dropped over contract situation

A concerning development in the future of Barcelona sensation Pau Prim has this week been revealed.

This comes amid confirmation on the part of Diario Sport that the youngster was recently dropped from Barca Atlètic’s squad owing to his contract situation.

Prim, for those not familiar with his name, is an 18-year-old midfielder, who has long been considered one of the standout prospects on the books in Catalunya’s capital.

Despite his tender years, the starlet has long been considered one of the first names on the team sheet of Albert Sánchez’s Barca Atlètic, for whom he has started 15 of the club’s 19 league fixtures this season.

Prim is also a youth international with Spain, at U19 level.

In turn, it will no doubt mark a source of concern for all associated with Barcelona to hear that the midfielder’s absence against Cultural Leonesa over the weekend came as a result of his sensitive contract situation.

Prim’s terms with Barca are due to expire in the summer, with little progress having been made in negotiations over a renewal.

As confirmed by Sport, the Spaniard was in turn left out on Saturday as something of a message to both he and his camp.

Prim will need to either put pen to paper on a new deal, or face up to the prospect of spending the 2nd half of the campaign banished to the stands.
