‘Help me’ – Robert Lewandowski sends plea to Barcelona youngsters after Atlético

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski made use of the opportunity to send a lighthearted message to the younger members of the club’s squad, on the back of their meeting with Atlético Madrid.

Barca, of course, marked their return to action late last night, making the trip to the Wanda Metropolitano for a La Liga showdown with Diego Simeone’s Atlético.

The Blaugrana headed into proceedings in the knowledge that an eventual victory would see them head into the international break having booked a spot in the Champions League’s quarter-finals, and climbed into 2nd in the Spanish top-flight, in the space of a single week.

And, when all was said and done on Sunday, this is precisely what they managed.

The aforementioned Lewandowski proved himself the star of the show, notching a pair of assists for João Félix and Fermín López, either side of a goal of his own, en route to an eventual 3-0 result.

Speaking to the media post-match, the subject of his creative exploits, as well as his connection with some of the less seasoned members of Barcelona’s squad, was put to the Pole.

And, as alluded to above, Lewandowski made use of the chance to send a smiling plea to his Blaugrana teammates, to ‘help’ him out with passes and crosses of their own:

“I know I have to help and support the young players, but I also need them to help me by passing the ball or sending crosses!”
