Girona have excelled so far this season and are currently second in the league on joint points with leaders Real Madrid. Aleix García has been an essential part of Girona’s form, but the 26-year-old has come under fire from his manager, Míchel, following comments he made after their last match.
“I would like to play at Barcelona. It’s the club that I have supported since I was a child and that I have always loved,” said the midfielder (adapted from Marca). García’s comments were, however, not well received by his manager, who, when asked about his player’s comments, said, “Aleix was wrong, and that’s it. I want people at Girona to be focused entirely on Girona; this is my message for our fans. We need people who are 100% with us.”
Girona will face Barcelona this Sunday and will hope to secure another win after they scored two goals in the final ten minutes to come from behind and beat Valencia last weekend.
