The XI of players chosen by Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick for the club’s meeting with Sevilla on Sunday appears to have confirmed a change in midfield pecking order.
This comes with Frenkie de Jong having been afforded yet another start in the middle of the park.
Recent weeks have of course seen the game time afforded to Dutchman De Jong gradually increase.
In fact, amid an upturn in performance level on the part of the former Ajax man, he has featured from the off in four of Barcelona’s last five outings.
Not only that, but in the other, De Jong was introduced off the bench at half-time.
And, in the process, another member of the Blaugrana’s engine room ranks has been relegated to a more secondary role.
After taking full advantage of the early-season injury woes in Barca’s squad to establish himself as something of an ever-present, Marc Casadó has now seemingly fallen behind Frenkie De Jong in the battle to partner Pedri in the middle of the park.
