Bayern Munich and England star Harry Kane has this weekend sent a message of congratulations the way of fellow countryman Jude Bellingham.
This comes after the latter beat his illustrious teammate to the award for England Player of the Year for the 2nd year in succession.
Bellingham emerged as the leading figure in Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions setup this past summer, at times almost single-handedly dragging his country through fixtures en route to a World Cup semi-final berth.
All told, the 23-year-old managed eight direct goal contributions in eight appearances at the tournament.
Such excellence proved enough for Bellingham to beat out Ballon d’Or contender Harry Kane earlier this week, as the England faithful voted for their side’s Player of the Year.
The latter, though, has since moved to make clear that there is no ill will between the pair, explaining to the media:
“I’d like to congratulate Jude Bellingham for winning England’s Men’s Player of the Year. He had an amazing year for us, his World Cup was special.”
