Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is ready to test a member of the club’s contingent of injured players in a new position upon his return to fitness.
That’s according to Spanish football insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Ansu Fati as the player in question.
Youngster Ansu, of course, is currently condemned to a fresh spell on the sidelines.
This comes owing to a foot problem suffered during a pre-season training session back in late-July.
As much could not have come at a worse time for the 21-year-old, whose efforts to convince manager Hansi Flick of his readiness to contribute for the season ahead were stopped dead in their tracks.
Reports pointing towards a fresh departure from the Camp Nou, in turn, quickly spread in the media once more.
In the end, Ansu stayed put, albeit with his planned role in Catalunya’s capital having since remained largely unclear.
Those of a Barcelona persuasion, in turn, will no doubt be interested to hear of an insight, on Sunday, being provided into precisely as much.
As per a report from Matteo Moretto of Relevo, speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, Hansi Flick is counting on Ansu as an important member of his frontline, once he has returned from injury.
Not only that, but the German tactician is preparing a new role for his La Masia graduate.
That in question? A backup option to Robert Lewandowski at centre-forward.
