Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Friday spoken out on the ongoing speculation linking the club with a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah.
The name of defender Tah, of course, has positioned itself front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the week to date.
This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the Camp Nou brass had identified the German international as a late-window transfer target.
Owing to injuries on the part of all of Andreas Christensen, Ronald Araújo and Eric García, Tah, whose contract with Bayer Leverkusen is due to expire next summer, was earmarked as the ideal budget option.
And yet, with mere hours remaining in the Spanish transfer window, no such transfer has come to fruition.
Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s La Liga meeting with Real Valladolid on Saturday, Hansi Flick was therefore asked for the latest on Barca’s alleged Tah pursuit.
And the German tactician went on to explain:
“I always say it, I accept what I have. Jonathan Tah is not in the team, I know there are a lot of rumours. When the player arrives, that’s when I think about him. Now he’s not here, I focus on the squad I have. Tomorrow we have 18 players available, that’s enough for me, it’s not much but it’s enough.”
