Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick this evening spoke out on his decision to drop Jules Koundé from his starting XI to face Rayo Vallecano.
Barcelona are of course currently locked in action.
In the final fixture of the La Liga gameweek, the Blaugrana have welcomed the aforementioned Rayo to Catalunya’s capital.
The name of the aforementioned Koundé took its place centre stage in the headlines in the buildup to the clash.
This came after word was forthcoming that the France international – a near ever-present this season – had been left out of Barca’s line-up.
Koundé, it was widely reported, showed up late to Hansi Flick’s pre-match team talk, therefore dropped as punishment for his tardiness.
Speaking to the media ahead of kick-off at Montjuïc, the subject of his defensive stalwart’s absence from his latest XI was in turn put to Flick himself.
And the German tactician went on to confirm:
“Jules Koundé has been benched as an internal decision.”
