Hansi Flick provides update on Barcelona’s striker search

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has early this week spoken out on the club’s ongoing pursuit of reinforcements in the final third.

The efforts of the Camp Nou brass to secure fresh blood at centre-forward has of course dominated the headlines across Spain for several months now. After Robert Lewandowski was allowed to depart upon the expiration of his contract terms, Deco and co. have since been working tirelessly to source a replacement.

To date, Atlético Madrid standout Julián Alvarez has been the player most heavily linked with a Barca switch. With the board at the Metropolitano refusing to open the door to a potential sale, however, a deal for the Argentine is beginning to look increasingly unlikely.

This could yet culminate in the Blaugrana adding a surprise profile to Hansi Flick’s frontline before the summer is out.

Speaking during an exchange with the media on Monday, the subject of his side’s centre-forward search was therefore put to Barcelona’s headmaster himself.

And Flick went on to admit that ‘we have to do something’ before the transfer window slams shut:

“We have to wait: I have a lot of confidence in Deco. We know we have to do something. It also depends on Ferran Torres, we’ll see.”
