Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is ready to alter the role of Eric García in his squad, upon his return from injury.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have this weekend provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
Eric, for his part, is of course sidelined at present, with a foot injury.
Prior to as much, though, the former Manchester City man had been playing an important role in Barcelona’s first-team setup.
Amid a personnel crisis in the middle of the park, Eric was tasked with filling in as a deep-lying midfielder, a position in which he performed admirably.
As alluded to above, though, upon the Spanish international being given the medical green light on the far side of the international break, he will be returned to his natural role in defence.
As per a report from Diario Sport, with all of Frenkie de Jong, Gavi and Fermín López now back fit:
‘When Eric is discharged, he will once again be used as a centre-back by Flick. This is where he feels most comfortable and where he shone last season at Girona.’
