Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Saturday spoken publicly regarding Wojciech Szczęsny’s smoking habit.
The subject of goalkeeper Szczęsny’s activities away from the pitch has of course proven a prominent one in Catalunya’s capital across the season to date.
This comes with many of a Barcelona persuasion having been left understandably surprised by news that their new no.1 for the season was a smoker.
Szczęsny, for his part, has never attempted to hide his enjoyment of an occasional cigarette, a habit which the Pole has had throughout his playing career.
Faced by the media on Saturday, amid claims of Szczęsny being in line for a contract renewal at Barcelona for next season, the same matter was in turn put to manager Hansi Flick.
And the German tactician was not shy in providing his take, explaining:
“He’s calmer, sometimes he smokes a little, but that’s just the way he is! He’s his age and very relaxed.”
