Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has hinted that he could opt for a different profile at left-back, in the club’s return leg showdown with Inter Milan on Tuesday.
Barcelona are of course primed to return to action tomorrow evening.
With a place in the final of the Champions League on the line, the Blaugrana will make the trip to Italy, for a meeting with the aforementioned Inter Milan.
The two sides remain deadlocked after last week’s opener, owing to a 3-3 stalemate.
Key to the impressive performance conjured up by Simone Inzaghi’s visitors in Catalunya was the explosiveness of the returning Denzel Dumfries.
Despite being fresh off a recent spell on the sidelines, Dutch international Dumfries notched a brace and an assist from his berth at right-wing-back.
Speaking to the media during his pre-match press conference on Monday, his plans at left-back in Milan were therefore put to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick.
Last week, Gerard Martín started in the role, before being replaced by Iñigo Martínez during the 2nd-half.
And Flick appeared to hint that Martín could drop out of his XI on Tuesday, in responding:
“We’ve analyzed everything with the staff. We need to defend much better, and there may be some changes. That’s all I can say.”
