Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has identified a member of his midfield ranks as a necessary sacrifice on the transfer market with a view to next season.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who highlight Marc Casadó as the player in question.
Youngster Casadó has of course long seen his future in Catalunya’s capital thrown firmly up in the air. After tumbling down the engine room pecking order in Barca’s squad this past season, the 22-year-old appears to have accepted the fact that his future now lies away from the Spotify Camp Nou.
All told, this past season, Casadó was afforded just 15 starts across all competitions.
The recent injury setback suffered by Frenkie de Jong saw it murmured that the Spaniard could be asked to stay put, at least for the opening half of the campaign.
As alluded to above, though, this will not be the case, at least if Hansi Flick has his way. As per a report from MD:
‘Casadó knows that Hansi Flick has instructed the club to listen to offers, believing they have enough players for the central midfield position even after Frenkie de Jong’s injury and the uncertainty surrounding whether he will ultimately require surgery.’
