Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco have differing opinions when it comes to the potential signing of Villarreal star Georges Mikautadze this summer. That’s according to Blaugrana insider Gerard Romero, who has on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.
Frontman Mikautadze is one of a whole host of attacking stars to have been linked with a potential move to the Spotify Camp Nou over recent months.
Amid frustration in their pursuit of Atlético Madrid standout Julián Alvarez, Barcelona’s board are understood to have earmarked the Georgian international as a backup target with a view to the season ahead.
Mikautadze, for his part, is fresh off a productive debut campaign in La Liga, giving rise to 19 direct goal contributions in 32 appearances.
As alluded to above, though, whilst one key figure in Catalunya’s capital appears wholly convinced by the readiness of the 25-year-old to make the step up to Barcelona, another remains more on the fence.
Speaking during an appearance on his official Twitch channel this week (as cited by Mercato Blaugrana), Blaugrana transfer expert Gerard Romero of Jijantes explained:
”Hansi Flick, as of right now, August 13th, doesn’t yet see Villarreal’s player Mikautadze very clearly. Deco, on the other hand, sees him very clearly; Hansi doesn’t yet. We’ll see how this story ends, and above all, there’s also an economic question, since Villarreal is asking for a huge amount of money.”
