Hansi Flick convinces transfer-linked Barcelona star to stay

Barcelona star Eric García has come to the decision to stay put with the club for the remainder of the campaign.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has on Wednesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Defender Eric, for his part, has played a bit-part role for Barcelona thus far this season.

Down the pecking order in both central defence and at the base of midfield, the Spanish international has been afforded a total of just six starts across all competitions.

Such struggles for game-time had given rise to widespread speculation that Eric could be on the move this month, amid mounting interest in the services of the former Manchester City man.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Thursday is anything to go by, then no such transfer will be forthcoming.

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, after Serie A outfit Como were ‘very close’ to striking a deal for Eric, a meeting with Hansi Flick convinced the 24-year-old of the merits of staying put.
