Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that defender Alejandro Balde will play no part in the club’s upcoming meeting with Stade Brestois.
Left-back Balde for his part sat out over the weekend, as Barcelona marked their post-international break return to action.
En route to an eventual 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo, the Spanish international’s absence – owing to a hamstring problem – was sorely felt, Gerard Martín having struggled in his place.
In turn, it will no doubt mark a source of concern for all of a Blaugrana persuasion to hear that Balde is set to miss out once more on Tuesday.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Barca’s Champions League meeting with Brest tomorrow night, Hansi Flick was asked for an update on his first-choice left-back’s wellbeing.
And the German tactician went on to explain:
“Last week Balde had muscle problems and before the game he was the same and we thought he could play but it wasn’t possible. Today he was better and he could be an option for other games but not for tomorrow.”
