Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that defensive star Ronald Araújo could be in line for his first appearance of the campaign this weekend.
The name of stopper Araújo has of course proven a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the week to date.
This comes after the Uruguayan, following a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, was afforded a place in Hansi Flick’s squad for the first time all season.
And though Araújo did not ultimately featured in his side’s downing of Borussia Dortmund, the situation could prove an altogether different one this weekend.
Barcelona are of course primed to return to action on Sunday, in a La Liga meeting with Leganés.
And, drawn on Araújo’s status for the fixture during his pre-match press conference this afternoon, Hansi Flick announced:
“Araújo can play, it’s a step forward. He’s in good shape. The plan is for Araújo to play a few minutes tomorrow. I don’t know if he will start but he is ready to play.”
