Updates on the wellbeing of two headline members of Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid squad have come to the fore this evening.
The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and centers on key pair Antoine Griezmann, and José María Giménez.
Both frontman Griezmann and defender Giménez are of course sidelined at present, owing to injuries suffered in Atlético’s Champions League Last-16 first leg meeting with Inter Milan last month.
The duo have since been forced to sit out each of the Rojiblancos’ last three fixtures across all competitions.
And, as things stand, it looks unlikely that either will return in time to feature at the weekend, when Atléti make the trip to relegation-battling Cádiz for a La Liga clash.
This comes amid confirmation that Griezmann and Giménez remained absent from team training in Madrid on Tuesday.
And yet, as per MD, ‘the club remains optimistic that they can join training in time to be ready’ for next week’s Champions League 2nd leg showdown with Serie A table-toppers Inter.
