Granada close deal for Hellas Verona’s Martin Hongla

The powers that be at Granada have today continued with what has proven an altogether busy start to the January transfer window.

This comes amid confirmation that they have sealed a deal for a 4th addition to Alexander Medina’s squad.

The latest player set to take his talents to the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign? Martin Hongla.

Hongla is a 25-year-old Cameroonian international, who has previously spent time on the books of the likes of Barcelona, Royal Antwerp, and Real Valladolid.

Most recently, though, he has been taking to the pitch in the colours of Hellas Verona, with whom Hongla managed 15 Serie A appearances across the season to date.

The Yaoundé native is a defensive midfielder by trade, but is also capable of lining out at centre-back.

In search of defensive-minded reinforcements amid the club’s ongoing battle to stave off relegation from La Liga, Granada have in turn swooped decisively to bring Hongla to Andalusia.

As confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, an agreement on the terms of a €3 million deal has been found between the respective boards at Hellas Verona and Granada.

Hongla, as a result, will imminently travel to Spain, to put pen to paper on terms with the latter.
