Girona unveil banner in Madrid ahead of Real showdown

A banner unveiled by Girona ahead of the club’s weekend showdown with Real Madrid has piqued widespread attentions in Spain late this evening.

This comes as the Catalans make crystal clear that they will not make the trip to the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday simply to make up the numbers.

Widely touted as a La Liga title showdown, high-flying Girona will of course go toe-to-toe with the mighty Real Madrid later this week.

Emerge on the right side of the result, and they will leapfrog Los Blancos back to the top of the table.

Suffer defeat, however, and Míchel’s troops will fall a full five points off the title pace, and risk being drawn in by 3rd-placed Barcelona.

Safe to say, then, that all associated with the Blanquivermells will be desperate for another positive result, amid what has proven a historic season to date.

And, as alluded to above, on Wednesday, the Girona brass have made their intentions crystal clear.

This comes by way of a club banner, unveiled in Madrid, featuring a photo of the club’s stars, accompanied by the caption:

“When the resume is not everything.”
