Several leading members of the first-team setup at La Liga outfit Girona made use of the opportunity to send messages of support to the victims of this week’s storm in Valencia.
Míchel’s troops marked their return to action earlier today, locking horns with Leganés in a league clash.
When all was said and done, Girona emerged on the right side of a hard-fought 4-3 result, to make it three wins from their last four across all competitions.
And as alluded to above, en route to as much, several of the Catalans’ goalscorers put football to one side, to pay tribute to those most affected by the devastating floods in the city of Valencia.
First came Miguel Gutiérrez, who, after opening the scoring on the evening, ran to the sideline, to hold up a jersey featuring the words:
‘Forca Valencia’
And a similar gesture was later recreated by both Arnau Martínez, and Cristhian Stuani:
