La Liga outfit Girona have late this week been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that midfielder Donny van de Beek has been condemned to a long-term spell on the sidelines.
Dutchman Van de Beek had not played his part in any of Girona’s most recent fixtures, owing to a persistent heel issue in his left foot.
The former Ajax and Manchester United man, in turn, was sent to a specialist, to gain a better understanding of the extent of his problem.
And unfortunately for club and player alike, as much confirmed the worst – that Van de Beek would be forced to undergo surgery to assure a full recovery.
As per a statement across Girona’s social media platforms on Saturday:
‘Donny Van de Beek underwent surgery on his left heel yesterday at the Quironsalud hospital by Dr. Cugat’s team, accompanied by the Club’s medical services. Downtime of about 4/5 months.’
