Girona identify new target to replace Artem Dovbyk

The powers that be at La Liga outfit Girona have identified a new target in their search for a replacement for the outbound Artem Dovbyk.

Frontman Dovbyk’s Girona exit, of course, is expected to be made official at any moment.

This comes with the Ukrainian all set to sign for Serie A giants AS Roma, in a big-money transfer which could be made official as soon as this weekend.

With Dovbyk having found the net on 24 occasions in La Liga last season, the brass at the Estadi Montilivi, in turn, have been left with some work to do in replacing the output of their top scorer.

To date, a whole host of strikers from across the continent have as a result been tipped as potential arrivals in Catalunya.

And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, a fresh name has been added to the list.

As per a report from transfer insider Matteo Moretto, Girona have joined La Liga rivals Real Sociedad in expressing a keen interest in the signature of Copenhagen standout Orri Óskarsson.

Óskarsson is a 19-year-old Icelandic international, fresh off an impressive campaign, which saw him notch 15 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

It remains to be seen whether or not Copenhagen are open to a sale.
