Girona boss Míchel provides explanation for recent hospitalisation

Girona head coach Míchel has provided an explanation for his recent absence from the club’s first-team setup.

Míchel, for those who may have missed it, set alarm bells sounding across Catalunya last week.

This came upon word coming to the fore that the Spaniard had been forced to temporarily alleviate himself of all managerial duties, to take his place in the hospital.

Messages of well wishes, in turn, quickly came pouring in for Girona’s headmaster.

Thankfully, Míchel has since been discharged, linking back up with his Blanquivermells squad for training on Monday morning.

And during an ensuing exchange with the media in his pre-Real Valladolid press conference, the tactician provided an insight into the reasoning behind his recent absence:

“I was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in my left leg.”

Míchel, from here, went on to add:

“Now, to do what I am most passionate about, which is coaching Girona.”
