Getafe want to keep Borja Mayoral beyond loan spell

Getafe president Ángel Torres has voiced his intention to keep Borja Mayoral beyond his current loan spell, which expires at the end of the season.

After Getafe’s draw with Barcelona on Sunday, Ángel Torres told Movistar: “We will speak with Madrid to see if Mayoral can stay here. If he can stay, he will stay. And if not, we will look for a different striker.”

Mayoral arrived on a six-month loan from Real Madrid in January. His six La Liga goals in a Getafe shirt have played a crucial part in ensuring their top-flight status.

Real Madrid have previously been reportedly keen on keeping Mayoral as an alternative striker option for next season.
