Speaking to Movistar+ after Barcelona’s 0-0 draw with Cádiz, Gerard Piqué blasted the fixture schedule that the players have to live with.
“We have five matches with two days rest, I don’t understand it. We need to help the players. I don’t know who organises these fixtures schedules. They put us down to play on a Monday, why not on Saturday or Sunday? The referee thing can happen, but this… It’s not a criticism, but a consideration to help the players. In less than 72 hours, we have a game, then the Champions League, then Atlético Madrid… We are human. Putting the game on a little earlier doesn’t take much.”
“I’m convinced that this team is up for this. We know the fans are with us. I’m convinced that we can win on Sunday. I’m here to win, not to finish second or third.”
