Gerard Moreno at risk of missing the World Cup

Gerard Moreno is set to be sidelined for a month at least, report Mundo Deportivo.

Villarreal were dealt a massive blow in their forwards department when the 30-year-old suffered a hamstring injury on the 11th of September. At the time it was believed that he would be able to make a come back by the end of the international break and play against Cádiz.

However, Moreno was not a member of the squad that travelled to Andalucía and medical staff at Villarreal believe that he would be out for a further month or a month and a half.

This means that he is doubtful to recover in time for the World Cup in Qatar. Even if he does recover, Luis Enrique may opt against calling him up as he would lack match fitness.

Moreno has been capped 17 times with the Spanish national team and has scored five goals for his country.
