American actor George Clooney is interested in buying Spanish Segunda División club Málaga CF, according to Diario AS.
Small Shareholders Association (APA) president Antonio Aguilera explained to Canal Málaga that an American company is interested in buying Abdullah Al-Thani’s stake in Málaga. Al-Thani is reportedly selling his club shares, believed to be worth a figure in the region of €100m.
Aguilera said that “negotiations are ongoing” between the sellers and a media group associated with Clooney.
“There is a very important group of film and TV producers who are here in Málaga, who want to make Málaga the Hollywood of Europe, they are recording series here in Málaga for Amazon and it a great economic potential for which they are already negotiating.”
