According to Relevo, Gabriel Paulista is now just a step away from signing for Atlético Madrid. The player was set to sign for Besiktas last night, however, this transfer saga has taken quite a twist.
The Spanish-Brazilian defender is set to complete the deal with Atlético. even though Besiktas thought they had the deal wrapped up when they accelerated proceedings last night.
On Sunday evening Besiktas officials were in the Spanish capital to sign the player and the operation was considered a success but José María Giménez’s injury has affected the outcome of the deal.
Valencia preferred the defender to go to Turkey instead of strengthening a La Liga rival like Atlético. Los Che are releasing Gabriel as he has an automatic 20-game renewal clause that the club didn’t want him to meet, as they could not afford his salary for another year.
