Four in, four out: Barcelona’s summer transfer plans confirmed

An insight into the plans of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona to reinforce the club’s playing squad this summer has been provided this evening.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who point towards sporting director Deco as having already drawn up a blueprint in the Barca boardroom.

First on the agenda will be clearing out some of the ‘deadwood’ currently on the books in Catalunya’s capital.

Out the door without question will be both Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso, whose expiring contracts will not be renewed.

Summer addition Oriol Romeu, meanwhile, is also expected to be moved on for a minimal fee.

And then come the big calls.

At least one, if not two high-profile first-team figures are set to be parted with, in a bid to raise funds for new signings.

Most at risk of being shipped off as things stand are winger Raphinha – amid interest from the Premier League, and stopper Ronald Araújo – long coveted by German champions Bayern Munich.

Andreas Christensen, though, is another name to keep an eye on.

From here, attentions will be turned towards incomings, with Deco and his team ready to kick things off by making the loan signings of both João Félix and João Cancelo permanent.

And the spending is unlikely to end there, with Barcelona also eager to land ‘a powerful and differential defensive midfielder’, and ‘a differential player for the left wing of the attack’.
